Gathering Around the Operating Table

Giving many thanks this post Thanksgiving for the perfect outcome to a scary gathering. After enjoying a beautiful dinner prepared by my sister and niece, we celebrated my brother's 52nd birthday with a German Chocolate cake. It was the perfect end to a meal that so many had put their hands together to make. Having a large part of our family come in from out of state to gather at my mom's was a treat and far to rare these days. My brother, took his dog for a walk while we all visited and cleaned up. Upon his return to the house he became very ill and collapsed. My family's warped sense of humor did not take long to emerge to tease the cook that her turkey must have made him sick, but with a more serious evaluation we could see it was much more serious.

My brother suffered a heart attack at the age of 52. Shock is an understatement of how we all responded. The paramedics in Tacoma where so gentle and thorough with him. He was in the hospital and having surgery within an hour of the attack. It gave us all pause to count the many blessings that unfolded through our shared experience, and to be grateful once again for the love of family. He is home recovering now, and all of us are left in awe with the clear spiritual intervention of the events for his perfect outcome.
